ClearOrbit’s Supply Network Gateway Composite Application
Receives SAP® xApps™ Certified Status
New Solution Enables Companies to Manage Drop Shipment and VMI Replenishment
to Customers within a Multi-Enterprise Network
Austin, Texas – January 16, 2007 – ClearOrbit (www.clearorbit.com),
a leading provider of real-time supply chain execution and returns management
solutions, announced today that its Supply Network Gateway™ packaged
composite application version 6.0 has received “SAP® xApps™ Certified – Powered
by SAP NetWeaver®” status. ClearOrbit’s Supply Network Gateway
runs on the SAP NetWeaver platform and is built with the SAP Composite Application
Framework (SAP CAF) tool Release 7.0. It improves revenue recognition and
inventory accuracy by enabling customers to better recognize, manage and
project revenue-generating transactions at remote partner locations. The
certification was achieved by demonstrating that Supply Network Gateway meets
all of the technical and business criteria established by SAP for its SAP
xApps Certified status. ClearOrbit’s composite application covers the
following three business processes: remote receipt, cycle count and shipped
goods.
With Supply Network Gateway, manufacturers can provide third party logistics
providers (3PL) and contract manufacturers secure access to their SAP solution-based
system to track end-customer orders, shipments, inbound receipts and inventory
positions. By extending their system-running SAP solutions to trading partners
at offsite facilities, manufacturers are able to reduce costs and increase
accuracy while maintaining visibility and control over the entire fulfillment
and replenishment process.
Attaining SAP xApps Certified status of Supply Network Gateway follows the
recent announcement of achieving “Powered by SAP NetWeaver” status
for ClearOrbit’s Enterprise Returns Management™ (ERM) solution,
which launched in October.
“With the SAP xApps Certified status of Supply Network Gateway, ClearOrbit
has taken yet another step toward deepening our support for SAP solutions
and customers using those solutions,” said John Reece, CEO of ClearOrbit. “We
see tremendous value in SAP’s ecosystem and its strategy for the SAP
xApps family of composite applications, providing enterprise services that
support the development of solutions that deliver value to customers and
decrease total cost of ownership. Our dedication to extending this support
and to driving technology innovation across the extended supply chain creates
a combination ideally suited for helping customers manage the supply network
and leverage their investment in SAP solutions. By completing the certification
to achieve SAP xApps Certified status, we can ensure easy integration and
reduced ongoing maintenance costs, which translates into rapid return on
investment for our customers.”
ClearOrbit’s Supply Network Gateway captures transactions in real-time
as they occur at remote locations, resulting in more accurate inventory data
within mySAP ERP, which better reflects the physical inventory environment.
By increasing the speed and accuracy of inventory information at remote partner
locations (such as vendor managed inventory (VMI) hubs and 3PL distribution
centers) companies can realize increased visibility across the supply chain,
reduced shipping errors, reduced inventory levels, faster VMI deployments,
and faster revenue recognition.
ClearOrbit leveraged deep functional and technical expertise in automating
trading partner transactions in the development of Supply Network Gateway. “With
experience in dozens of trading partner automation projects involving thousands
of external suppliers, 3PLs, and contract manufacturers, ClearOrbit has developed
a unique perspective on what it takes to make integration of trading partners
successful,” said Warren Sumner, vice president of marketing and strategy,
ClearOrbit. “We are pleased to leverage this expertise to help manufacturers
and distributors running SAP solutions better manage their supply networks.”
Through SAP xApps Certified status, partners and ISVs like ClearOrbit deliver
on the promise of enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA)
following the principles and standards of SAP’s composite architectural
guidelines. Composite applications that are certified by the SAP Integration
and Certification Center reuse, integrate and orchestrate functionalities
from existing application assets in the context of an enterprise SOA, with
only selective development of new functionality where it is needed to fill
gaps. A composite application provides new application functionality, supports
analysis followed by action (rather than mere read-only views) and enables
the execution of business processes from start to finish. It has the potential
of repeatable deliveries to multiple customers.
