Blue Bell Creameries Selects ClearOrbit to Automate Data Collection for Improved Lot Control in High-Volume Production & Distribution Centers Austin, Texas – Jan. 23, 2007 – ClearOrbit (www.clearorbit.com), the leading provider of real-time supply chain execution and reverse logistics solutions, today announced that Blue Bell Creameries will deploy its Gemini mobile software solution for Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM) to automate data collection and improve the company’s production lot control and traceability. Blue Bell, one of the country’s oldest and best-selling ice cream manufacturers, selected ClearOrbit to improve the accuracy, timeliness, visibility, and control of data throughout the company’s high-volume production and distribution centers across the Southeast. With Gemini for OPM, Blue Bell employees will now use mobile RF scanners to record key transactions, such as receiving, inventory movements and transfers, adjustments, batch inputs/outputs and returns, directly on the shop floor. By capturing data from more than 2,000 SKU’s in real time at the point-of-origin, Gemini will dramatically and immediately increase data quality and visibility throughout the company’s multiple facilities. “ClearOrbit brings a wealth of experience improving supply chain processes for consumer packaged goods manufacturers,” said Jim Kruse, Blue Bell controller. “Lot control and traceability are critical processes for a company like Blue Bell that relies on real-time, accurate data reporting to produce quality products. This approach fully leverages the setups, tolerances and profiles already defined in Blue Bell’s Oracle deployment, minimizing implementation, training, and ongoing support costs.
