ClearOrbit's Xtended Process Control (X.PC) for Contract Manufacturing provides advanced functionality to enable you to control the activities of contract manufacturers and other third-party partners who manufacture, store and ship goods on your behalf. By deploying Internet, bar code, RFID and RF scanning technology at key process points within your trading partners' facilities, X.PC applications eliminate the errors that are typically introduced when you outsource contract manufacturing and logistics to third parties.

Drop Ship Functionality

A key element in the X.PC Suite is the ability to "drop ship" items from your contract manufacturer's or 3PL's facility directly to your end customer. By placing certain controls on the shipping processes of your trading partners, you can have them ship directly to your customers with confidence. Since all info is driven from your ERP, last minute order changes or cancellations are caught before the shipment is finalized, ensuring accuracy. In addition, X.PC provides fully compliant bar code labels and shipping documentation printed at your supplier's shipping dock, pulled directly from your system. Your trading partners don't have to worry about label formats, ship-to addresses, and commercial invoices (international shipping documentation) - with X.PC that info is automatically printed on their behalf based on the real-time data in your ERP.

With X.PC, you get the best of both worlds - the efficiencies and costs savings of contract manufacturing and third-party distribution, with the revenue and service opportunities of continuing to control the customer relationship (invoicing, EDI transmission, order notification, etc.). X.PC currently consists of two separate modules, configurable based on the shipment signal (Purchase Order or Sales Order) and when the transfer of ownership occurs:

PO Drop Shipment (POD)
POD allows manufacturers and distributors to drop ship items based on purchase orders within your ERP. These are generally build-to-order or ship-to-order items produced by contract manufacturers on your behalf.

SO Drop Shipment (SOD)
SOD allows manufacturers and distributors to drop ship items based on sales orders within your ERP. These can be items that you already own and are stored on your behalf at your trading partner's facility.
